San Juan Somatic Therapy

Let your body be your guide

What is Somatic Therapy?

Imagine being aware of a glowing and energetic feeling in your chest. With the safety and guidance of your therapist, you tune in with it to find a powerful message that you can overcome this hurdle you are facing, and with it comes a new insight on how to do that. Somatic Therapy uses mindfulness and directing our attention to bring awareness to sensations in the body that hold wisdom that we wouldn't get through thinking or talking about an issue alone. It’s an integrative approach to psychotherapy that incorporates both traditional talk therapy and techniques designed to increase the connection between the mind and body. It places a strong emphasis on mindfulness and the connection between physical sensations and emotions. The overall aim of somatic therapy is to help individuals lead more fulfilling and balanced lives by addressing and resolving the physical and emotional burdens they carry.

Aaron Belson, LCSW

About Me

Hi! I'm Aaron. I started San Juan Somatic Therapy to follow my passion in providing therapy that is healing, deeply meaningful, and goes at your own pace. I have been a client of somatic therapy for years and have found it to bring a deeper connection with myself, my relationships, and with nature.  As a result, I've experienced a more balanced and supportive way of being....

Nikki G.

"Aaron is skilled in holding safe space for vulnerability and unconscious patterning to unfold, and he meets you there with his huge, connected and compassionate heart."

Emily R.

"Aaron has a gentle yet attentive presence. He has the ability to really see people and connect in an authentic, disarming way. He's in tune with the body and has a strong set of clinical skills. Most importantly, he has a strong and open heart. "

Mia C.

"Aaron's presence is calm and steady. It is easy to trust that he's got you regardless of what comes up in session and that that he will accept all of you. I have experienced him as both highly skilled and naturally caring."

"I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out until sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in."
